U.S. Rep. Mark Alford (R-Raymore) is one of 72 House Republicans to vote no on the bill to suspend the nation’s debt limit through January 2025. Congressman Alford joined us live on 939 the Eagle’s “Wake Up Mid-Missouri” this morning, telling listeners that he will never vote for what Washington wants, but will always vote for what residents in west-central Missouri’s fourth district want. Congressman Alford says his constituents were opposed to the bill by an 8-1 margin, based on contacts with his office. He also discussed details of a 15-minute phone call between him and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-California) this week, and says Speaker McCarthy has told him three different times in his office to vote his district first. McDonald’s restaurants across mid-Missouri offering a free beverage to teachers today
Mid-Missouri teachers can enjoy a free beverage today at their area McDonald’s drive-thru, as part of national teacher appreciation day.
McDonald’s restaurants in Columbia, Jefferson City, Ashland, Fulton, Boonville, Moberly, California and much of mid-Missouri are offering one any size soft drink, sweet tea or coffee to any teacher with a valid educator ID.
Local McDonald’s owner Mark Mehle says the restaurant has a long history of recognizing teachers as a key part of our communities.
No purchase is necessary. The offer is valid at participating McDonald’s while supplies last.
Moniteau County Sheriff: 100 fentanyl capsules seized after traffic stop in mid-Missouri
A Moniteau County judge describes three suspects arrested in this week’s fentanyl case in High Point as a danger to the community. Judge Aaron Martin has ordered all three suspects to be jailed without bond.
Moniteau County sheriff’s deputies arrested 21-year-old Cameron Upton and his two passengers, Caleb Jackson and Landon McKinley, during a Tuesday traffic stop in High Point, which is 11 miles south of California, Missouri.
Moniteau County Sheriff Tony Wheatley tells 939 the Eagle that about 100 fentanyl capsules have been recovered. Deputies allegedly found more fentanyl and meth hidden on Jackson, at the jail.
Sheriff Wheatley says there have been very little issues with fentanyl in Moniteau County in the past. He describes fentanyl as a very powerful and deadly drug, adding that “you can count on us doing everything within our power to keep this drug out of the county and away from our children.”
