February’s winter storms had impact on mid-Missouri school districts

February’s winter storms closed schools across mid-Missouri, including the region’s two largest districts. The National Weather Service (NWS) says 15.5 inches of snow and sleet fell in Columbia in February, impacting schools across the region. Icy roads causes numerous mid-Missouri schools to close on Friday

Mid-Missouri’s largest school district, Columbia Public Schools (CPS), has a two-hour late start on Friday morning. CPS spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark notes this is being done for safety reasons and to allow buses to navigate routes with daylight.
