A White House spokesman says House GOP investigations have turned up no evidence of wrongdoing. Congressman Alford welcomes the news about Speaker McCarthy, telling listeners that the American people deserve answers. He emphasizes that Congress must have unredacted records. Congressman Alford also addressed agriculture and Missouri’s I-70 expansion on the program. Alford, who serves on the House Agriculture Committee, says the massive Swift Foods plant on Columbia’s Route B will help the food corridor that’s growing in that area:
Missouri’s 2023 state fair wraps up; fair officials praise concert attendance
While we won’t have attendance numbers yet, Missouri state fair officials are pleased with this year’s turnout in Sedalia. The fair wrapped up on Sunday.
Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA) spokeswoman Christi Miller says it will be a few weeks before they have official attendance numbers. Ms. Miller says things have been great at the fair, telling 939 the Eagle that concert attendance has been terrific. She also says there were quite a few people on the fairgrounds for Sunday’s half-price day, despite intense heat.
And Thursday’s Governor’s ham breakfast was a sellout, with 1,000 tickets sold.
This year’s state fair theme was “where traditions grow.”

(LISTEN): Columbia’s Midway Golf and Games aims to become mid-Missouri’s premier family fun destination
Saturday is the highly-anticipated grand opening of Columbia’s new Toptracer golf facility at Midway Golf and Games.
The multi-level facility has been accepting walk-ins this week. Midway Golf and Games general manager Taylor Burks, a former Boone County clerk, tells 939 the Eagle that he’s hearing great feedback.
“A number of people have said that they don’t have to go to Chesterfield or Overland Park, Kansas to see Topgolf. They’re able to do it right here in mid-Missouri now,” Burks says.
Tomorrow’s grand opening is from 10 am to 10 pm and includes a fireworks display at 9:15 pm. Mr. Burks says the new Toptracer facility will draw golfers and families from across mid-Missouri. He wants to see Midway Golf and Games be mid-Missouri’s premier family fun destination.
“We get guests all the time from Fayette, Boonville, as you know Sedalia and Marshall. Over in Mexico, Moberly. These are places that they’ll travel a little bit for travel or attractions and that’s what we’ve created,” Burks tells 939 the Eagle.
Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz will host his countdown to kickoff event to benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Missouri tomorrow at 5:30 pm in the banquet room.
