State treasurer Vivek Malek (R) is Missouri’s 48th state treasurer. He was born in India and arrived in Missouri in August 2001 with two suitcases and $300 in his pocket. He has returned more than $1.7 million in unclaimed property to Missourians since being sworn-in in early January.
