The Heart of Missouri Girls On The Run is a youth empowerment program for girls to help them realize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them unique Over the course of ten weeks, the girls engage in activities designed to build self-confidence, personal courage, competence, connection, and caring.
One of the goals of the program is to teach girls how to set and achieve personal goals. To do this, the program helps them train to run in a non-competitive 5k. Crossing the finish line is a tangible way for the girls to see the goal toward which they’ve been working come to fruition.
On Saturday, November 11, 2017 we will celebrate the Fall 2017 Heart of Missouri Girls on the Run Celebration 5k for the 280 girls participating at 20 sites across mid-Missouri. We invite everyone in our community to participate in our race either as a community runner or as a volunteer.
