Back in 2016, listeners welcomed 98.3FM The Dove to mid-Missouri with open arms. And since then, the station has continued to grow! This year, we are reflecting on how The Dove has grown in 2021 specifically to pay homage to our community of awesome and dedicated listeners.
What is Setting The Dove Apart?
First, let’s look into a little what makes The Dove, The Dove! Lite Rock on 98.3FM The Dove was introduced to mid-Missouri about five years ago and provides listeners with an alternative to the typical radio station format. Format and song selection have been key in attracting our listeners. The Dove is a lite rock station featuring music that was at the top of the charts in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. This is music that listeners can sing along to by artists that are loved by nearly everyone!
98.3FM The Dove also is unique in the fact that it limits its commercial breaks to 60-seconds. After 60-seconds, a listener knows that they’ll be back to listening to their favorite music. As a result, a business’ advertising message becomes a natural part of the format, rather than an obvious interruption. This promise of never breaking format for more than 60-seconds away is part of what has prompted the successful growth of The Dove.
Who’s Listening to The Dove?
The Dove’s resume of listeners looks like a who’s who of household buying decisions. With a base audience that is 65.4% female and 34.6% male, it reaches an important demographic of adults aged 35 to 64 with a composite household income of over 50K (57.9%). Additionally, 98.3FM The Dove reaches 20 counties in mid-Missouri including cities Columbia, Ashland, Fulton, and Jefferson City. Those aren’t the only cities that have fans with #dovelove. According to The Dove’s Facebook page, some additional cities in mid-Missouri showed up for our top followers including Boonville, Hallsville, and Mexico.
How Has The Dove Grown in 2021?
The Dove is a unique station that has garnered the attention of many mid-Missourians in 2021. Whether they are at home, in the car, or at work, the Dove is a station you can listen to for hours and you can count on the fact that it will always put a smile on your face. In 2021, listeners streamed 8.5% more hours of The Dove in 2021 than they did in 2020. We also saw a 5% increase in the total number of listeners who streamed The Dove from 2020 to 2021. We say that is some good growth!
Another thing people should know about The Dove is that we have loyal listeners that not only tune in regularly but also follow and interact with our social media pages on a consistent basis. And the amount of these followers has continued to grow in 2021. In fact, the amount of total engagement on The Dove’s Facebook page increased by 60% from 2020 to 2021! The Dove’s Facebook followers have enjoyed engaging social media content that includes giveaways, trivia, and more in 2021 and we look forward to even more fun and follower growth in 2022!
