Help Love Columbia and Veterans United Foundation for “Keep a Roof Over Your Head Day!”
Veterans United Foundation is partnering with Love Columbia to celebrate Keep A Roof Over Your Head Day (December 3rd) by helping Boone County families avoid eviction during this Christmas season. Through the foundation, VU employees already awarded Love Columbia $50,000!
Rent has increased 20% in Columbia since the pandemic, causing many families to struggle to cover their basic expenses. According to 2-1-1 Counts Missouri, Boone County’s highest requested category is housing and shelter at 53.3%. Under the Housing and Shelter category, rent assistance is the most requested at 49%.
Community members are also encouraged to donate to the initiative through Love Columbia’s CoMo Gives campaign via a scannable QR code at the Bright Lights Holiday Nights event, taking place November 30th – December 17th. Every bit will help a local family that might also be struggling to put food on the table or provide for their children this holiday season.
They are now challenging YOU to be a part of this initiative. All businesses and organizations that donate by November 10th will have their logo included in VU’s Bright Lights Holiday Nights display. On average, they see 1,000 vehicles enjoying this free community event each night!
Their goal is to raise $150,000 with you prior to the November 30th event kick-off to help keep local families housed through the winter.
