A man who was shot in a standoff with Columbia police has died.
Officers say they responded to an area of Clark Lane, just west of Ballenger Lane around 1:15 p.m. Wednesday after reports of a man assaulting others. They found Jordan Pruyn, 28, armed with a gun. Authorities say Pruyn threw the gun away and barricaded himself inside a mobile home for several hours.
At around 5:45 p.m., Pruyn came out of the home showing a knife and started charging toward officers, who then shot and hit Pruyn. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
The Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
