State Department of Transportation (MoDOT) officials want your feedback on I-70’s current condition in Missouri and on construction staging ahead of the massive $2.8 billion expansion project. MoDOT will hold an open house style informational meeting Wednesday evening from 5-7 at Columbia’s Battle high school, where engineers will be on-hand. There will be no formal presentation, so you can arrive anytime in that timeframe. Governor Mike Parson signed the bipartisan bill in August providing funding for the project, which will make I-70 six lanes from Wentzville to Blue Springs. Governor Parson notes the project will start in Columbia. MoDOT I-70 director Eric Kopinski joined us live this morning on “Wake Up Mid-Missouri” to discuss tomorrow’s meeting and the massive project. He emphasizes MoDOT is taking as few properties as possible and that they have lots of right-of-way:

Governor Mike Parson (R) has signed bipartisan legislation into law providing the funding. The money will be used to plan, design, build, rebuild and expand I-70 to three lanes in each direction from Blue Springs to Wentzville, which is about 200 miles.

1,331 students to graduate from CPS high schools this weekend
Columbia Public Schools (CPS) Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood will be at all four CPS high school graduation ceremonies during the next two days, starting this (Friday) morning with Douglass high school’s graduation at Missouri Theatre.
82 Douglass seniors will graduate at 10 this morning. Hickman’s 422 graduates will walk across the stage at 7 this evening at Mizzou Arena. Battle and Rock Bridge seniors graduate tomorrow at Mizzou Arena: Battle at 11 am and Rock Bridge at 6 pm.
CPS spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark tells 939 the Eagle that tickets are not required at the graduations, and that’s why the larger ones are held at Mizzou Arena. She says CPS will have live streams.
Expect extra traffic about Columbia’s Mizzou Arena Friday and Saturday, for grduations
More than 1,300 students from the class of 2023 will graduate from Columbia Public Schools (CPS) this week. Douglass and Hickman graduate on Friday, while Battle and Rock Bridge graduate on Saturday.
Douglass’ 82 graduates will walk across the stage Friday morning at 10 at Missouri Theatre, while Hickman’s 422 graduates will walk across the stage Friday at 7 pm at Mizzou Arena.
The Battle and Rock Bridge graduations will be Saturday at Mizzou Arena. CPS’ Michelle Baumstark tells 939 the Eagle that 367 students will graduate from Battle, while 460 students will graduate from Rock Bridge. Battle’s graduation starts at 11 am Saturday, while the Rock Bridge ceremony is at 6.
Traffic will be heavier than normal both Friday and Saturday near Mizzou Arena.
