Columbia’s Wabash station to open again Thursday night

Columbia’s unhoused residents have another option to stay warm again on Thursday night. The city will be opening the Wabash station downtown as an overnight warming center. It will be open from 7 tonight until 6 tomorrow morning. It will be open Friday night as well.

The plummeting temperatures and anticipated winter weather have prompted Columbia officials to announce that they will open the Wabash station as an overnight warming center tonight (Tuesday) through Friday night. Subfreezing temperatures have prompted Columbia officials to open the Wabash station downtown Friday night, starting at 7. That is because the National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting cold weather below 15 degrees. The overnight warming center is for individuals unable to access local emergency services.
