UPDATE: Court documents suggest Columbia man obtained 2300 fentanyl pills in Los Angeles
A federal affidavit provides new details into February’s arrest of a Columbia man who was caught with more than 2,300 fentanyl pills.
939 the Eagle News has obtained the seven-page affidavit from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), which says suspect Walter Antwine Moore also goes by the alias “Malik Wali.” The DEA says Moore was on Amtrak’s #4 Southwest Chief that originated in Los Angeles in February. The affidavit says Los Angeles “is known as a ‘Source City’ for illegal controlled substances and numerous seizures and arrests have been made from this route.”
The document says Moore also became confrontational with Kansas City Police before his arrest at the KC Amtrak station, accusing police of harassing and profiling him.
The affidavit also outlines how authorities knew Moore was on the Amtrak train from Los Angeles to Kansas City. Court documents say authorities received a tip about Moore from someone who knows him.
The court documents also outline Moore’s criminal history in-detail. Moore has at least three previous convictions for robbery, controlled substances and domestic violence. The court documents say he’s also been arrested at least 17 times: five drug arrests, seven weapons arrests and five arrests for robbery.
They also mention two open cases against Moore, who remains jailed without bond. He’s in federal custody.
(AUDIO): Large crowds expected in Kansas City for Super Bowl parade; Governor Parson to speak at Chiefs rally
Kansas City officials are warning about “significant travel delays” today, as massive crowds are expected for the Chiefs Kingdom Champions parade.
It begins at noon at 6th and Grand and will end at Union Station. Missouri Governor Mike Parson will participate in today’s parade. He’s back from Sunday’s Super Bowl in Arizona. The governor tells 939 the Eagle that it was a great win for the Super Bowl champion Chiefs, and a great atmosphere at State Farm Stadium.
“You know for me it was kind of pretty special because it was the 57th Super Bowl and I’m the 57th governor of Missouri. So, self-serving but it was just a huge day for me to be able to say that, ” Parson says.
Governor Parson describes the Chiefs as Missouri’s team. He notes the Chiefs have been dominant since he became governor in June 2018.
“But we’ve been in the (AFC) championship game every year that I’ve been governor. We’ve been to three Super Bowls, won two of those Super Bowls. And so to win the 57th one and be the 57th governor is kind of icing on the cake,” says Parson.
Many Kansas City-area schools have canceled classes today. SEMA’s Missouri Disaster Medical Assistance Team and Kansas City firefighters are providing on-site medical support during today’s celebrations.
