Boone County prosecutors have added a statutory sodomy charge against a Columbia man who was already jailed for possession of child pornography.

76-year-old Ivan Metzger is jailed without bond, and Boone County Judge Tracy Gonzalez has ordered him to remain jailed pending trial. Judge Gonzalez says no combination of monetary or non-monetary conditions will secure the safety of the community, including witnesses.

The Columbia Police Department’s graphic two-page probable cause statement says there were allegedly more than 20 images of child pornography on Metzger’s personal computer. Court documents obtained by 939 the Eagle indicate the Columbia Police Department’s investigation into this case continues.

Metzger’s home is on Parklawn drive, which is north of I-70 in northwest Columbia.

A Columbia man charged with killing a woman and her grandmother this weekend has made his initial arraignment and remains jailed without bond today.

Boone County prosecutors have charged 35-year-old Cadilac Derrick with two counts of second degree murder for the shooting deaths of 22-year-old Lea’johna Sanders and 53-year-old Laura Myers. 939 the Eagle News was at the Boone County Courthouse on Monday when Derrick was arraigned via video, wearing a jail jumpsuit. He displayed little emotion, telling Judge Tracy Gonzalez that he intends to hire an attorney.

Court documents say Derrick and Sanders had an infant son, and indicate Sanders called 911 late Saturday night to say Derrick had been abusing her. Sanders told the dispatcher that Derrick would not leave her house and that he told her if she didn’t stay with him, he was going to kill her and her mother. Multiple gunshots were then heard on the 911 call, according to the Columbia Police Department’s probable cause statement. The court documents say the dispatcher could then hear Derrick saying “now what bitch,” after Sanders had been shot.

Derrick was captured this weekend in Moberly. He remains jailed without bond.

A Columbia man is now charged with three felonies, accused of sexually assaulting a woman he met on a dating app and holding her against her will.

23-year-old Elijah Schwartz-Jeffries, who’s also known as Elijah Schwartz, has been charged with rape and two counts of sodomy. He’s jailed without bond and made his initial court appearance via video on Tuesday before Boone County Judge Stephanie Morrell.

The Columbia Police Department’s probable cause statement quotes the victim as saying she met Schartz through the Tinder dating app. She’s also quoted as telling CPD investigators that she and Schartz went to dinner on Thursday before going back to Schwartz-Jeffries’ apartment. The victim says he was acting “weird” and that he may have been high on marijuana wax. She says when she tried to leave the apartment, the suspect grabbed her by the throat and choked her, before allegedly sexually assaulting her in the shower.

Columbia Police have credited a witness for coming forward and corroborating the victim’s statement.

939 the Eagle News reported Tuesday that Boone County Judge Tracy Gonzalez issued a full order of protection against the suspect on October 18, 2021. That order is still in effect today. That case involves a different victim.
