Former Mizzou quarterback Alex Demczak is a best-selling author and motivational speaker. He’s co-authored a new book called “The Sale” with Jon Gordon that highlights the importance of trust and integrity, as well as positive leadership. Columbia Regional Airport’s manager to appear on 939 the Eagle Saturday morning
The one-year anniversary of Columbia Regional Airport’s (COU) $23-million new terminal is fast approaching. It will be in mid-October.
COU airport manager Mike Parks will join 939 the Eagle’s Fred Parry in-studio tomorrow morning at 7 to reflect on the one-year anniversary and the community’s reaction to it. Mr. Parks will also update listeners on food service and parking at COU. Several listeners have also asked about direct flights to Charlotte. Mr. Parks will also address that as well.
Missouri Governor Mike Parson traveled to COU for the October 18, 2022 ribbon-cutting for the new terminal. Hundreds of people packed the event, with residents literally lined up out the door to hear from the governor and others. Governor Parson predicts the terminal will make Columbia a top medical destination.
Mr. Parks will also discuss planned capital improvements at COU during the program.

Columbia Public Schools (CPS) Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood says his aim is for CPS to be the best school district in Missouri. Superintendent Yearwood joined host Fred Parry in-studio Saturday morning on 939 the Eagle’s “CEO Roundtable” program. Dr. Yearwood tells listeners that the district’s back-to-school convocation event at Mizzou Arena was well-received by CPS staff. This year’s convocation theme was inspiring greatness. CPS’ first-day enrollment was 19,157, an increase of more than 350 from last year. CPS is currently Missouri’s fifth-largest school district. Dr. Yearwood also addressed the issue of COVID, saying the district’s priority for students and staff is safety. Dr. Yearwood also emphasizes that he wants the district’s scholars to remain in-seat, as opposed to remote learning:

Columbia has received $25-million in federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars, while Boone County has received $35-million. President Joe Biden signed ARPA into law in 2021. Comobuz.com publisher Mike Murphy appeared in-studio for the hour Saturday morning on 939 the Eagle’s “CEO Roundtable,” telling listeners that the city and county are providing massive giveaways to non-profits, with the ARPA money. “Roundtable” host Fred Parry, a former Boone County commissioner, says social service agencies in our community, with a few exceptions, are largely ineffective. They discuss the ARPA money in-detail on the program, and they also discuss the issue of short-term rentals in Columbia. Murphy says Columbia has about 500 short-term rentals, with about 400 of them under the Airbnb moniker. The city has received some complaints about these facilities from neighbors. Parry recalls a house in Columbia’s Grasslands near Faurot Field holding parties a few years ago, prompting complaints from neighbors:

Longtime Stephens College president Dianne Lynch is getting ready to start her 15th year as president of the nation’s second-oldest women’s college. She joined host Fred Parry in-studio for the hour Saturday morning on 939 the Eagle’s “CEO Roundtable”. She tells listeners that there are currently 500 veterans on a waiting list to get a service animal. President Lynch says Stephens is seriously looking at a program to train service animals. She’s also on the board at Columbia’s Boone Hospital Center and tells listeners that she believes in Boone. President Lynch, a former reporter, says the decision to go independent was the correct one for Boone:
